There’s nothing quite like kick-starting your morning with our tropical, fruit-filled concoction: the Jackfruit Smoothie Bowl! This bowl is a unique blend of my beloved Italian-American traditions with a colourful twist inspired by my hiking trips that have introduced me to a world of exotic flavours.

Jackfruit Smoothie Bowl

Travelling Through Taste

This recipe is a far cry from the hearty meatballs and spaghetti of my childhood. The Jackfruit Smoothie Bowl carries the same essence of gathering around the table, but it also lets you travel with each spoonful. Forget jet lag; this smoothie bowl is your ticket to a tropical paradise with its sun-ripened fruit, reminiscent of a tropical fruit platter served seaside. It is also similar to the beloved acai bowl, but the jackfruit gives it a delightful twist.

Health in a Bowl

The Jackfruit Smoothie Bowl is not just a pretty face; it’s packed with essential nutrients too. Jackfruit is well-known for its immune-boosting properties, while the mixed berries are loaded with antioxidants. The added Greek yogurt and chia seeds provide a protein punch, making this bowl a wholesome breakfast option. And not to forget the honey, which adds a natural, unrefined sweetness while offering antibacterial benefits.

If you’re looking for a recipe to serve alongside this colourful fruit bowl, I suggest something light and savoury. A simple avocado toast would complement the sweetness of the smoothie bowl without overpowering it.

Through this Jackfruit Smoothie Bowl, I wish to share a bowlful of sunshine and health with you. This is a far departure from the Italian-American meals of my childhood, but cooking, after all, is about exploration and discovery. Hence, whether it’s amongst the aroma of simmering tomato sauce or the freshness of fruits, the magic unraveled in my kitchen speaks the language of love and tradition, just as my grandparent’s did.

What You’ll Need

  • 3 cups frozen jackfruit
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup granola
  • 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries)
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup fresh coconut flakes
ALLERGENS: coconut, milk, Greek yogurt, honey, granola

Method

Step One

Start by gathering all ingredients needed for the smoothie bowl. This includes 3 cups of frozen jackfruit, 1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk, 2 frozen bananas, 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 cup of granola, 1 cup of mixed berries, 1/4 cup of chia seeds, and 1/4 cup of fresh coconut flakes.

Step Two

Then, put the frozen jackfruit, coconut milk, frozen bananas, Greek yogurt, and honey into a blender. Blend on high until smooth. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides to ensure the ingredients blend evenly.

Step Three

Once your mixture is smooth, pour it into a large bowl. This will serve as the base of your smoothie bowl.

Step Four

After pouring the smoothie mix into the bowl, it’s time to add the toppings. Start by sprinkling the granola evenly on top of the smoothie mixture. This will add a nice crunch to the smoothie bowl.

Step Five

Next, scatter the mixed berries evenly over the granola. The berries will add a splash of colour and inject their natural sweetness into the bowl.

Step Six

Last but not least, sprinkle the chia seeds and fresh coconut flakes over the mixed berries. These add a nutritional boost, as well as extra crunch and flavour.

Step Seven

Your Jackfruit Smoothie Bowl is now ready to be enjoyed! Dive in right away and savour the tropical flavours.
