As a Carolina girl, there’s something about the juicy, vibrant colors of tropical fruit that pulls me in every time. Today, I want to share with you a personal favorite recipe, something I take out to impress guests at brunch, or just for an afternoon refreshment. It’s called the Mangosteen and Dragonfruit Salad.

Mangosteen and Dragonfruit Salad

A Walk Through Tropical Flavors

The first time I tasted mangosteen, I fell in love with its sweet-tart flavor. Dragonfruit, with its mild sweetness, not only adds a refreshing balance to the salad, but also, with its magenta hue, serves up a plate that’s hard to resist visually. This salad goes beyond the daily apple and elevates fruit to an art form. The honey drizzle — a touch that takes me back to the honey jars of my Southern roots — brings sweetness that rounds this whole dish off. And the mint? Well, mint and fruit are a match made in food heaven, the sweet and cool interplay brings an unexpected twist. Topped off with a touch of nutty sesame seeds, this salad is a melody of flavors and textures.

Tactful and Tasty Health Benefits

What I also adore about the Mangosteen and Dragonfruit Salad is that it’s not only a feast for the eyes and the palate, but also for the body. Mangosteen comes loaded with antioxidants and provides immune system support, while dragonfruit supplies fiber and vitamin C (Healthline). Not to forget, with the honey and lime juice, this salad offers natural sugars and a good dose of vitamin C — a perfect dish to keep you feeling refreshed and invigorated.

Being from the coast of Charleston, I find this salad easily adaptable as a beautiful side dish with a variety of mains. It pairs extremely well with southern staples like roast chicken, and equates to a light, refreshing finish after a hearty meal. Or you can simply enjoy it as a healthy, any-time snack by the beach! So, however you decide to enjoy this Mangosteen and Dragonfruit Salad, just know that you’re treating your taste buds and your body to a delightful, nourishing feast. Bon appétit!
