Pomegranate BBQ Sauce Pulled Pork

One of my absolute favorite fusion food innovations is our Pomegranate BBQ Sauce Pulled Pork. This tantalizing crowd-pleaser is dripping with the tangy succulence of pomegranate juice ensconced in classic barbeque flavors – a true testament to the blending of diverse culinary traditions. This unique spin on traditional pulled pork infuses the irresistible warmth of American Southern comfort food with the vibrant, antioxidant-rich burst of pomegranate, a favored delicacy in my Japanese heritage.

Health Benefits Wrapped in Flavor

don’t just love this recipe because it’s delicious (which it absolutely is), but also because of its numerous health benefits. Pomegranate, the star ingredient, is a power-packed fruit known for its high antioxidative properties. Antioxidants help fight inflammation and reduce oxidative stress in the body. The garlic used in this recipe not only adds an aromatic richness but also delivers a powerful dose of health-promoting compounds. A regular intake of garlic could help enhance immunity and promote heart health.

A Treat for the Senses

Every bite of this enticing Pomegranate BBQ Sauce Pulled Pork offers an adventure—an explosion of contrasting flavors. The aromatic onion, the subtle sweetness of the brown sugar and the tangy undertones of apple cider vinegar. Not to mention the unmissable whiff of Worcestershire sauce that evokes an almost primal sense of pleasure.

For ultimate satisfaction, I highly recommend pairing this Pomegranate Pulled Pork with a crunchy coleslaw or perhaps some lightly grilled corn on the cob. The crunch from the fresh vegetables perfectly balances the tender juiciness of the pulled pork.

Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or trying your hand at savory dishes for the first time, this recipe will not disappoint. It’s easy to prepare but gives a whole new meaning to homemade gourmet. Whether it’s game night or family dinner, this pulled pork recipe is sure to leave your guests starry-eyed and asking for just ‘one more helping’. So, fire up the grill, and let’s transform your kitchen into the hottest BBQ joint in town!

What You’ll Need

  • 2 lb pork shoulder
  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 6 hamburger buns
ALLERGENS: Gluten (BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, hamburger buns), Garlic, Onion

Method

Step One

First, apply the olive oil to the pork shoulder, ensuring that it is entirely coated. Season it with salt and black pepper.

Step Two

In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil-coated pork shoulder and sear each side until it is browned. This should take about 3-5 minutes for each side. Once seared, place the pork shoulder into a slow cooker.

Step Three

In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook them until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant. This should take around 5 minutes.

Step Four

Pour the cooked onion and garlic over the pork shoulder in the slow cooker.

Step Five

In a bowl, combine the pomegranate juice, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and BBQ sauce. Mix well, then pour it over the pork shoulder, onions, and garlic in the slow cooker.

Step Six

Now, sprinkle the brown sugar over the mixture in the slow cooker.

Step Seven

Cover the slow cooker and set on low for about 8 to 10 hours, or until the pork is tender and can easily be shredded with a fork.

Step Eight

Once the pork is done, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.

Step Nine

Pour some of the leftover sauce from the slow cooker over the shredded pork until it’s as moist or dry as you prefer.

Step Ten

Serve hot on hamburger buns. Enjoy your Pomegranate BBQ Sauce Pulled Pork!
