Why I Love Brazilian Vegan Brownie

There’s a sweet romance tale that starts and ends with these Vegan Brownies, a delightful culinary confection hailing all the way from Brazil. These treats are a testament to the magic that happens when traditional Brazilian delicacies are innovatively reinvented. Ah, a sweet reflection of my approach to food, a blend of my Southern upbringing and West African heritage.

Vegan Brownie

These Vegan Brownies are a lush, chocolatey canvas that melds with uncomplicated pantry staples to create an impossibly rich and moist confection. For someone like me, who’s all about creating unique and flavorful fusions, this dish is love in every bite, akin to a perfectly harmonized duet of Brazilian and Afro-Southern flavors.

Global Inspiration Turning Local

No single chef inspired the creation of this exotic treat, rather, it evolved merely from my eagerness to explore new territories in baking. However, I’ve always admired the work of Alex Atala, a Brazilian chef renowned for his creative adaptations of local ingredients, known to redefine expectations with each dish.

Sweet Harmony

This vegan brownie recipe works fabulously with other traditional Brazilian dishes. For instance, a pairing with Brazilian Pão de Queijo (cheese bread) could create an enticing contrast, a tug of war between savoriness and sweetness that excites the palate. Moreover, accouterments like tropical fruits or cashew caramel bars might create a well-rounded Brazilian-themed dessert spread. Extraordinary flavours, textures, and cultural amalgams, isn’t that what Afro-Southern fusion should be all about?

In essence, this Vegan Brownie recipe is an intimate window into my culinary journey, a testament of the love I possess for fusion cuisine, a mirror reflecting my Southern upbringing, West African roots, and appreciation for a global food anthology. Revel in its rich, chocolatey goodness as it enriches your senses, withholding no promise of joyous indulgence.

  • 1 cup of coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of vegan dark chocolate chips

Method

Step One

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking pan and set aside.

Step Two

In a large bowl, whisk together 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of cocoa powder, 2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder.

Step Three

In a separate bowl, combine 1.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk, 1 cup of coconut oil, and 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined.

Step Four

Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir the mixture until it’s just combined, do not overmix.
