The Health Benefit of Yuzu Ginger Dressing

This dressing isn’t just all about flavor. The combination of ingredients offers a range of health benefits which might come as an unexpected but welcome bonus. Yuzu, a citrus fruit commonly used in Asian cuisines, is packed with vitamin C and other antioxidants, while ginger, with its warming and soothing qualities, is known for its anti-inflammatory benefits. Not to mention that sesame oil, soy sauce, and rice vinegar all bring their own slew of nutrition to the table, making Yuzu Ginger Dressing a true wellbeing elixir.

What to Pair with Yuzu Ginger Dressing

While I avidly share my love for this dressing, I am also passionate about sharing dishes it can wonderfully complement. Its citrusy and spicy notes make it a perfect partner for grilled chicken, steamed fish, and a variety of salads. Try it on Asian-inspired salads topped with seared tuna or salmon. But really, anything that could do with a bit of zing can benefit from a drizzle of this dressing, whether it be a plate of blanched green beans or a bowl of fresh tomato and mozzarella.

Yuzu Ginger Dressing shares many similarities with Japanese Ponzu sauce and Korean Yuzu-cha, both in terms of ingredients and flavor profile. However, I can assure you, once you’ve tried this, you’ll find it stands firmly in a category of its own. Drawing inspiration from my roots, I experimented with my Italian-American palate and discovered that Yuzu Ginger Dressing also pairs exceptionally well with roasted Italian bell peppers, giving them a fresh and punchy twist. In essence, this dressing is a culinary chameleon, effortlessly adopting the flavors around it and making a truly memorable dining experience.

Think back to your favorite meals. I bet they all had one thing in common: a burst of flavor. To me, that’s what good food is all about and that’s why I love the Yuzu Ginger Dressing. It’s more than just a condiment; it’s a celebration of taste, of memories, and of the act of coming together around the dinner table. This dressing might seem simple, but, as with most things in life, it’s the simple things that are the best. Enjoy!

What You’ll Need

  • 1/4 cup of fresh yuzu juice
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger
  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt
ALLERGENS: soy

Method

Step One

Start by collecting all your ingredients. You will need fresh yuzu juice, freshly grated ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, a garlic clove, black pepper, and sea salt.

Step Two

Take a medium-sized bowl and pour 1/4 cup of fresh yuzu juice into it. If you cannot find fresh yuzu juice, a good substitution would be half orange juice and half lemon juice.

Step Three

Add 1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger to the yuzu juice. Grating it fresh will add a vibrant, savory taste to your dressing.

Step Four

Immediately after adding ginger, pour in 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of rice vinegar, and 2 tablespoons of sesame oil. These ingredients will create a savory flavor profile for your Yuzu Ginger Dressing.

Step Five

Now, add 1 tablespoon of honey to the mixture. The sweetness of the honey will balance the savory flavors just added.

Step Six

Next, mince 1 garlic clove and add it to your dressing. Garlic adds depth and a mild heat to the dressing.

Step Seven

Finally, season the dressing mixture with 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1 teaspoon of sea salt.

Step Eight

Use a whisk to thoroughly blend all the ingredients together until they form a smooth consistency.

Step Nine

Your Yuzu Ginger Dressing is ready! You can use it right away, or keep it refrigerated in a sealed container for up to a week. Enjoy with your favorite salads or Asian-inspired dishes.
