When I think of comfort food that warms both the soul and spirit, one dish that immediately comes to mind is the Sculpit Quiche with Goat Cheese. Nothing brings me more joy than creating a recipe that is not only delicious but also packed with health benefits. Living in the Rocky Mountains, I’ve been inspired by the natural beauty and the abundance of fresh, nutritious ingredients that nature provides.

First things first, let’s talk about sculpit. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this delightful green, it’s a wild herb that has a slightly bitter taste, akin to arugula. If you can’t find sculpit, arugula makes a great substitute. This quiche is a symphony of flavors, blending the earthiness of the greens with the creaminess of goat cheese and the subtle sweetness of fresh fruits.

The Perfect Nutritional Balance

Not only is this Sculpit Quiche with Goat Cheese a flavor-packed delight, but it also offers a great deal of nutritional value. The greens provide essential vitamins and minerals, while the fresh fruits add a touch of sweetness and an antioxidant boost. Goat cheese is a fantastic alternative to cow’s milk cheese; it’s lower in calories and fat, yet rich in protein and calcium. This quiche is bound to satisfy your taste buds while keeping your dietary goals in check.

A Versatile Dish

This recipe stands out not just for its taste but also for its versatility. The Sculpit Quiche with Goat Cheese makes for an excellent breakfast, a delightful brunch item, or even a light dinner option. It pairs wonderfully with a side salad of mixed greens and a glass of crisp white wine. If you’re looking to complement the quiche with another hearty dish, consider my Mountain Trout with Herb Butter recipe – it’s a perennial favorite in our household.

If you love quiches, this recipe will remind you of classic dishes like Quiche Lorraine or Spinach and Feta Quiche, but with a distinct twist that makes it unique. The incorporation of fresh fruits alongside savory ingredients makes each bite an experience in itself.

Just as I enjoy creating these recipes with inspiration from the great outdoors and the love and support of my partner Gordon, I hope you find joy and comfort in making this Sculpit Quiche with Goat Cheese for your loved ones. Enjoy!

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup fresh sculpit leaves (or arugula if sculpit is unavailable)
  • 1 1/2 cups assorted fresh fruits (e.g., strawberries, blueberries, peaches, sliced thinly)
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups half-and-half
  • 4 oz goat cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
ALLERGENS: Eggs, Dairy, Wheat

Method

Step One

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the unbaked pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish and set it aside.

Step Two

In a small pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the fresh sculpit leaves (or arugula) and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until wilted. Remove from heat and let cool.

Step Three

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, salt, black pepper, nutmeg, and all-purpose flour until well combined.

Step Four

Spread the wilted sculpit leaves evenly over the bottom of the pie crust. Then, evenly distribute the assorted fresh fruits on top of the sculpit leaves.

Step Five

Pour the egg mixture over the sculpit leaves and fruit in the pie crust, making sure it spreads evenly.

Step Six

Sprinkle the crumbled goat cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top of the egg mixture.

Step Seven

Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the quiche is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.

Step Eight

Remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your Sculpit Quiche with Goat Cheese!
